Choosing between them

Which Top Dog rooftop tent is the lightest?

+

The Soft Top and the Hard Top are tied at 119 lb net. Those two are the only models with any chance on a well-rated factory rack, and even then the margin is thin once you add hardware and crossbars.

What is the cheapest Top Dog rooftop tent?

+

The Soft Top at $1,199. It is a fold-out soft shell with 280 GSM canvas rated to 3000 mm waterproof, three windows, a 60 mm foam mattress, a 2.3 m ladder and an LED light — all included.

What is a Z-type hybrid rooftop tent?

+

A hybrid pairs a rigid hard shell lid with a Z-folding fabric body. Closed, it looks and behaves like an aerodynamic roof cargo box; opened on its gas struts, it gives you the floor area of a fold-out tent. Top Dog builds two: the 1m 60cm at $2,800 and the 1m 90cm at $3,250.
